Automated Liquid Paint Line
Autoquip, Inc. (AQ) www.aqautomation.com recently completed an automated liquid paint line at a manufacturing plant in Mexico. This project was delivered on time and within budget.
The automated paint line consisted of two zones:
Zone 1 is equipped with an Autoquip designed and manufactured four axis horizontal reciprocator; the “Y” axis works independently of each other to track the product. The gun bars carry and position two Ransburg 268 Rotary Atomizers.
In zone 2, Autoquip installed two pedestal mounted Fanuc Paint Mate robots with an HVLP spray gun mounted to each robot. Also installed in zone 2 is a stationary gun stand which incorporates a quick release to easily adjust gun positions with a robust positive locking mechanism. The gun bar has six HVLP spray guns which feed from a high flow AQ color stack to a 3286-fluid regulator for consistent fluid flow control. Regardless of the spray gun triggering combination, using the 3286 regulator keeps the trigger output linear and more repeatable.
Autoquip provided the complete mix room equipment. On one side of the room was an electrostatic application with (10) isolated pump circulation module systems and three non-circulating solvent pump modules. Included were operator protection cages with grounding wands, electrostatic interlock switches, electrostatic power applied indicators, stainless steel mixing tanks, tank lid lifts, agitators with high efficiency agitation motors, and closed loop agitation speed controls.
The non-electrostatic application of material, Autoquip supplied (10) pump circulation system modules with stainless steel mixing tanks, tank lid lifts, agitators with high efficiency agitation motors, and closed loop agitation speed controls.
For fluid control of the bells, AQ provided PLC recipe controlled Open Loop Pomtava 3.0 CC/Rev gear pumps with integrated dual dump fluid valves. Supplying the gear pump is an AQ high flow color stack and 3286 fluid regulators. The PLC system recipe controls an analog electronic air pressure regulator which applies a programmable air pressure to the fluid regulator reducing the circulation system fluid pressure entering the Pomtava gear pump. The manufacturer’s system flow meter required a special isolation module with fiber optic pickup.
